Millwall and Wigan are the lesser of the semi-finalists but both sides have a chance of winning some silverware this season. The Championship side have only won three times in their last 14 league games and will come against a team very much in form, which is not a surprise at this time of the season.
Millwall come in to the semi-final on the back of a 2-1 loss against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek. They may also be without joint top goalscorer Liam Trotter who has a knee injury. He and Andy Keogh have six goals each this season.
Wigan who are aiming to reach the FA Cup final for the first time and have been in good form recently. They are still in the relegation zone but are unbeaten in their last four games and beat Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park to reach the last four of the FA Cup. Wigan are 15/2 to beat Millwall 2-1 on Bet365.
Millwall on the other hand reached the final in 2004 and have beaten Preston, Aston Villa, Luton Town and Blackburn to reach Wembley. Their form against Premier League sides in this competition is not something to be proud of. Millwall have won just one of their last 13 encounters with top flight teams in the FA Cup.
Wigan have come to form at the same time as their front man, Arouna Kone. He has scored six goals in his last seven games and because of this he is 5/4 to score on Sky Bet.
But Roberto Martinez will be reminding his players that there is more to play for after this semi-final, either way of the result. They currently sit in a relegation spot and staying in the Premier League will be a high priority for the manager.
If other semi-finalists Chelsea and Manchester City finish in the top four of the Premier League then Millwall and Wigan will make the qualifying stages for next seasons Europa League, a fantastic opportunity and feat for both teams.
It is hard to see past the Latics because of their recent form and Millwall’s poor form against Premier League opposition; however this is the FA Cup and if the London side are to make another cup final, they will need a spot of luck or a moment of magic to make it happen. Rob Hulse, experienced forward for Millwall, is 70/1 to score first and Millwall to win 2-1 in 90 minutes on Sky Bet.
