Tolworth Hurdle Betting Preview
The big race on Saturday is the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown. It sees some top two mile hurdle prospects take to the track. The market is headed by yet another top prospect from Willie Mullins’ stable in the form of Yorkhill. He is best priced with Paddy Power at 8/11. While he is not a bet that represents a lot of value it is hard to see anything beating him.
Yorkhill comes into the race after winning easily on his hurdles debut at Punchestown. That victory came on heavy going and over two miles four furlongs, so he should have no problems on Saturday’s going. Yorkhill was also two from two in bumpers and looks to be a horse with a bright future. His trainer Willie Mullins has a whole host of good prospects this season and whilst Yorkhill might not be the best of those, he should still have enough to beat the opposition in front of him on Saturday. His price may not be the best value seen all season, but he could be a good starting point if looking for a horse to include in those Saturday multiples.
Main opposition should be O O Seven who is best priced with Coral at 4/1. O O Seven looks to continue Nicky Henderson’s brilliant recent record in the race. This record includes four wins from the last five years. He appears to have a good chance if the favourite under performs. He has had two starts over hurdles and recorded two wins. The latest win came over course and distance which is a big positive in a race of this nature. He seems most likely to be the horse to follow Yorkhill home.
A final horse of note is Welsh Shadow. He appears to have progression in him after winning a listed contest at Haydock last time out. This win came on soft ground so he appears likely to be able to cope with Saturday’s testing conditions. This took his career record to two wins from three runs. He is best priced with BetVictor at 5/1. Whilst he is a horse with a bright future he is likely to come up short on Saturday. He is officially rated eight pounds lower than O O Seven.
Yorkhill seems the logical choice in this race and whilst his price may not be what punters had hoped for at the start of the week, it is hard to see past him in this Grade One contest. Read more racing previews here or check out the latest free bets from online bookmakers.
